NAR Board to Vote on Hate Speech Proposal
The NAR (The National Association of Realtors) Board has fielded an “unprecedented” number of complaints about members posting hate speech on social media. As a result, the Board of Directors is set to vote on a hate speech proposal that would extend the application of Article 10 of the Code, which prohibits discrimination in professional services and employment practices, to discriminatory speech and conduct. If passed, associations would be required to share with the state real estate licensing authority final ethics decisions holding realtors in violation of the Code of Ethics in instances.
